Homemade Protein Waffle Recipe
I haven’t pulled out my waffle maker in a long time — I mean, I think it’s probably been YEARS since we used the thing. Pancakes are usually the more popular choice in the mornings for breakfast but the kids were asking for waffles yesterday, so I decided to dig deep back into our kitchen closet and dig it out.
Making waffles from scratch really isn’t that hard and it can be a healthier alternative to some of the pre-made mixes that might have added sugar or other preservatives that we just don’t need. I decided to take a basic recipe and add some collagen to it for some added protein because, why not!?
Waffle Meal Prep Ideas
Make a double batch and save in the fridge or even the freezer for breakfasts all week. I like to do this so my kids and grab their own breakfast all week and top with different toppings to change things up. These waffles are great for an afternoon snack as well.
Homemade Collagen Waffle Recipe Ingredients
2 cups flour
2 scoops collagen peptides
1 tbsp baking powder
2 eggs
1/4 cup melted butter
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1 tsp cinnamon
Homemade Collagen Waffle Directions
In a bowl, whisk together flour, collagen peptides, and baking powder
Then add eggs, melted butter, whole milk, and cinnamon
Mix everything together and let sit for a few minutes
Cook in a waffle maker until golden brown
Top with berries, syrup or other toppings of your choice
Makes about 12 small waffles
These are delicious! You could easily omit the collagen or swap with a protein powder (I would recommend using an unflavored protein powder).
