Simple Garter Stitch Knit Cowl Pattern (Free)
I love being able to pull this piece down around my shoulders or wearing it more like a cowl. The versatility of this winter accessory will make it a wardrobe staple in a heartbeat.
Materials
2 skeins Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn (1 skein = 106 yds) or another super bulky weight yarn (color show is Charcoal)
29” 12.75 mm Circular Knitting Needle
1 Stitch Marker
Tapestry needle to weave in ends
Gauge:
4” = 8 STS & 16 Rows in garter stitch (note that gauge isn’t as important to get perfectly in a cowl pattern)
Finished Measurements: 28” circumference at the top, 46” in circumference around the bottom, and about 15” long
Abbreviations
CO = Cast On
ST(S) = Stitch(es)
K = Knit
K1F&B = Knit 1 in the front and back (increase a stitch)
M = Marker
P = Purl

Instructions:
CO 60 STS and join in in the round, being careful not to twist. Place a marker to note the beginning/end of round.
Row 1: P to end
Row 2: K to end
Row 3: P
Repeat Rows 2-3 until piece measures about 7.5” from cast on
Increase Row: [K1, K1F&B] to end
Repeat Rows 1-2 until piece measures 15” from cat on.
Bind off loosely and weave in ends.
