The Two Hearts Open Cardigan is a drop shoulder open cardigan knit with super bulky weight yarn from the top down, which allows you to easily adjust armhole depth and body length. Pockets are knit separately, a contrasting heart is added with duplicate stitch, and then the pockets are seamed to the cardigan. It’s a quick, cozy knit and the contrasting hearts add a cute detail that makes this a fun statement piece.
Size Guide + Finished Measurements
The pattern is written in 8 sizes, 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) with a finished circumference of 41.5 (44.75, 48, 51.25, 54.5, 57.75, 60.75, 64) in/104 (112, 120, 128, 136, 144, 152, 160) cm. It is intended to have 10-14 in/25-35 cm of positive ease. For example, I have a 37 in/92.5 cm bust and I knit a Size 3 for about 11 in/27.5 cm of positive ease. Please note that a lot of ease is needed for drop shoulder sweaters.
Yarn
Approximately 642 (661, 755, 792, 869, 908, 997, 1019) yds/587 (604, 690, 724, 794, 830, 911, 931) m or 3 (3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5) skeins of Lion Brand Re-Spun Thick and Quick Yarn (223 yds/204 m per 12 oz/340 g skein; 100% recycled polyester) or any other super bulky weight yarn that meets gauge. Color shown is Dark Cherry. You will also need approximately 12 yds/13 m of a contrasting color yarn in a similar weight. Yarn shown is Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick Yarn (106 yds/97 m per 6 oz/170 g skein; 80% acrylic, 20% wool per skein) in Rouge.

8 mm (US 11) circular knitting needles in the following lengths:
- 6 in/40 cm (for the sleeve ribbing)
