Shores Cardigan Free Knitting Pattern
We hang out on the water a lot here in Chicago. Whether it’s a little jaunt out on the sailboat, or a nice dinner outside on Lake Michigan, or even just hanging out on a blanket in the sand and watching the sunset, we love to spend time by the shore. I’m always looking for something simple to throw on over my workout clothes if we want to quickly run over to the water for some fun and I love it if I can wear that same sweater with jeans and a t-shirt for those spring or summer nights on the water hanging with family and friends. I put yarn to needle and decided to make my own cardigan that’s classic and versatile with some fun color.
I have a huge stash of Lion Brand Martha Stewart Extra Soft Wool Blend yarn from years ago (the yarn has since been discontinued). I mean, like huge stash in lots of different colors. Most of the colors are soft pastel colors that are great for spring and summer knitting. If you know me, you know I’m all about the chunky yarn and big needles so I decided to double up the yarn and come up with a simple open cardigan knit that’s super versatile.
And Shores Cardigan was born...
A simple, cozy, open cardigan to bring with you to the shores—to the shores of the ocean, to the lake or just about anywhere where you might need an extra layer. This cardigan is a top-down raglan sweater, a tad oversized, with a bit more length in the body and cropped sleeves. Its simple but classic construction will soon become a wardrobe staple.
