Sometimes simple is just better. I keep trying to tell myself this right now. We’re in the midst of packing up our house and moving a few towns north. Even though we’re not moving far, the change will be a lot. We’re excited about what’s to come but it’s been a bit stressful and I just keep trying to tell myself to keep it simple. Don’t take on too much, just do what I can…..

Crocheting and knitting in the evenings or in between packing boxes has really help me destress and relax. This crochet scarf was the perfect way to unwind during this stressful time. Let’s be honest, I always have to be making something!

I love this scarf because it’s simple but makes a huge statement. It’s easily customizable — make it shorter or longer or wider or thinner. It’s great for a beginning crocheter and fun for the more advanced as well.

Instructions

  • CH 141

  • Row 1: HDC in second CH from hook, and in each CH space across (140 HDCs)

  • Row 2: CH1 loosely, turn. HDC in the back loop of the very first HDC space from the hook and in each HDC space across to last HDC space, HDC through both loops.

See my video HERE on how to complete the HDC

  • In summary, you will be making an HDC in the back loop of each HDC space, including the very first space from the hook, and then complete a full HDC in both loops for the last HDC space, skipping an HDC in the CH1 space. The CH1 does not count as the first HDC in the row.

  • Continue Row 2 for 10 more rows or until width desired (11 total rows).

  • Cut yarn and weave in ends.
