How to Knit a Cowl Scarf in the Round for Beginners | Easy Pattern
How to Knit a Simple Cowl
I came up with a design for a simple cowl to help those new to knitting in the round create a great first accessory. Cowls are the perfect first project to knit in the round — there are no increases and decreases and all you need to know is how to knit and purl. In this video, I teach you how to knit the entire cowl step-by-step. I first teach you how to cast on, using the long-tail cast-on method, and then join the work in the round so you can begin knitting this easy cowl on circular knitting needles.
How to Modify a Knit Cowl
This is a simple pattern that can easily be modified. It’s a great foundational cowl for you to get creative with. The video teaches more experienced knitters how to change the gauge of the cowl so you can knit it in any yarn weight and needle size. I knit this cowl using 9mm needles and super bulky weight yarn (Lion Brand Re-Spun Thick + Quick) but show you how to calculate the new cast-on stitch amount
